# Label Printers
> Brother QL and Zebra label printers that work with Digital Florists Connect.
Label printers handle your **delivery labels**, **message cards**, and **relay order labels** for relay orders. Brother QL is our primary recommendation — the 62mm rolls are the right size for gift labels, message cards, and the smaller delivery labels florists use day-to-day. Zebra is supported as the alternative if you already own one or want a network-only setup.
## What to buy
For most florists, a Brother QL-820NWB with 62mm DK-22205 continuous rolls is the right starting point — it covers delivery labels, message cards, and relay order labels on one roll.
**Buy continuous rolls, not die-cut.** Connect uses the printer's built-in cutter to size each label as it prints, so the roll has to be one long continuous strip. Die-cut rolls (pre-cut to a fixed shape, like address labels) will print the wrong size and waste stock. Check the product listing says **continuous** before you order. Brother QL printers print via Windows or macOS. Install Brother's official driver first, then Connect picks the printer up from your operating system's printer list.

Zebra printers connect over your network — Connect discovers them automatically, or you can enter the IP address by hand. They print to wider thermal stock and are a good fit if you already use Zebras for other workflows. If you're buying new, the ZD421 or ZD621 replaces the older ZD420/ZD620.
**Zebra printers must have a built-in cutter.** Choose a cutter variant — without one, every label has to be torn off by hand, which slows the till and gets messy on continuous stock. If you're buying new, confirm the cutter is included before ordering.
## Label sizes
Connect sizes labels to the roll you've loaded — it isn't tied to a shipping-label format.

You can change the loaded stock in **Settings** > **Printers** > your label printer. For Brother, stick with DK-22205 unless you specifically need a different roll.
## Connection methods

For Zebra, plugging into the router with an Ethernet cable is the most reliable option — Wi-Fi works, but a wired connection rarely drops.
## Label types Connect prints
* **Delivery labels** — recipient name, address, order number, fulfilment type (delivery or collection), and a scannable QR code linking to the order
* **Message labels** — gift card messages with a choice of font family (cursive, sans-serif, and bundled Arabic and Chinese fallbacks)
* **Relay order labels** — for relay orders (Interflora, eFlorist), showing the relay name and fulfilment details
Delivery labels for unpaid orders can carry a red-bordered unpaid notice. The web app decides whether it appears and what it says when it sends the print job — there's nothing to set up in Connect.
Labels often arrive at Connect in a batch — printing labels for a whole delivery run, for example. If one label in a batch can't be printed, Connect skips it with a note and prints the rest, so a single problem label doesn't hold up the run. Batches are capped at 50 labels.
## Address label copies
By default, one address label prints per product line on the order. To change that, open **Settings** > **General** > **Printing** in your Digital Florists dashboard (this one lives in the dashboard, not in Connect) and set **Address Label Copies** — one label per product line, one per item, or one per order.
When an order prints more than one label, each is numbered — Order #123 (1 of 3), and so on — so drivers can check nothing's been left behind.
## Address label layout
Delivery address labels print in the standard layout by default. To switch to landscape, tick **Use landscape address labels** on the **Address label layout** card in **Settings** > **Printers**. The landscape layout keeps the QR code on the right and works best with Brother-style continuous label printers.
With landscape on, you can also tick **Include saved business logo on landscape labels** to print your logo on each one. It's the same logo you upload for receipts — see [Receipt printing](/get-started/connect-receipts#logo). Standard address labels stay the same either way.
## Barcodes and QR codes
All supported label printers handle barcode and QR code printing out of the box. Delivery labels include a QR code by default that links straight to the order, which is handy for drivers scanning labels off the manifest while they're out on the round. ## Common questions
Network is the recommended way to talk to a Zebra. USB works on some models, but Connect's discovery is built for network printers — for the most reliable setup, plug your Zebra into the router.
Most will, via the generic Zebra profile. We only *guarantee* the models listed above, but the GK and ZD series share enough internals that many generic models print fine. Email us if you want to check before buying.
No. Receipt printers and label printers use different paper sizes and different printing methods. You'll need a separate device for each.
