# Connect Settings

> Every setting in the Connect settings panel — what it does and what it defaults to.

**Connect** keeps almost everything it needs auto-detected, but the settings panel is where you tweak the bits you care about — printers, your shop's logo, relay polling, and how Connect behaves on this computer. This page walks through every section in plain language, with the buttons you'll click and the defaults that matter.

## Opening the settings panel

Connect runs in the background, so you won't always see its window. Open the panel like this:

| Platform    | How to open                                                                                                               |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Windows** | Right-click the Connect icon in the system tray and choose **Settings**, or open the main window and click the gear icon. |
| **macOS** | Click the Connect icon in the menu bar and choose **Settings**, or bring the main window forward and click the gear icon. |

The panel has a left-hand menu with six sections: **Connect to your shop**, **Printers**, **Relay settings**, **Advanced settings**, **Application logs**, and **About**. Click **Back to dashboard** at any time to return to the main window. Each section is covered below.

## Connect to your shop

The connection between Connect and your Digital Florists shop. This section shows a **Required** badge until you're connected — without it, Connect can't talk to your shop.

| Setting          | What it does                                                                                                     | Default                     |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------- |
| **Access token** | A single code that links Connect to your shop. Paste it in and click **Verify and save** to test the connection. | None — you paste it in once |

To find your token, open Digital Florists in your browser and go to **Settings** > **Advanced** > **Integrations** > **Connect**. Connect masks the token in the panel once it's saved, and shows a green confirmation if the test succeeds.

You can also pair without copying anything. Click the connection link in your Digital Florists dashboard and Connect opens with a confirmation screen — accept it and you're paired.

<Info>
  If you ever need to point Connect at a different shop, click **Replace token** and paste the new one, or use a connection link from the other shop. Either way Connect warns you before replacing the existing connection, and your printer setup is kept.
</Info>

## Printers

Everything about your receipt and label printers, plus the cash drawer status. Most of this is set during the setup wizard ([Mac](/get-started/connect-setup-mac) or [Windows](/get-started/connect-setup-windows)) — this section is where you adjust or troubleshoot afterwards.

### Receipt printer

| Setting                                                      | What it does                                                                                                                                                                            | Default   |
| ------------------------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------- |
| **Print Test Receipt** | Sends a test receipt to your receipt printer. | n/a |
| **Open Cash Drawer** | Fires the drawer kick on the receipt printer. Only shown when the cash drawer is enabled. | n/a |
| **Use Windows driver compatibility mode for Epson receipts** | A fallback for Epson printers on Windows when test receipts aren't coming out. Leave it off unless support asks you to switch it on. | Off |
| **Star receipt command set** | For [Star USB printers on Windows](/get-started/connect-receipt-printers#star-usb-windows). If a test prints nothing, try switching from **Automatic** to **ESC/POS** or **Star Line**. | Automatic |

### Label printer

| Setting                                             | What it does                                                                                                                    | Default                        |
| --------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------ |
| **Print Test Label** | Sends a test delivery label to your label printer. | n/a |
| **Use landscape address labels** | Switches delivery labels to our classic landscape layout — your logo at the top, recipient details below, QR code on the right. | Off |
| **Include saved business logo on landscape labels** | Adds your saved logo to the landscape layout. Only shown when landscape is on. | On (when landscape is enabled) |

### Cash drawer

| Setting                | What it does                                                                                      | Default                                                  |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Cash Drawer status** | Shows **Enabled** or **Not in use**. Set during the setup wizard — change it by re-running setup. | Enabled if you confirmed your drawer opened during setup |

### Re-running setup

| Setting                    | What it does                                                                       | Default |
| -------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| **Run Setup Wizard Again** | Restarts the first-run wizard so you can swap printers or re-test the cash drawer. | n/a |

<Tip>
  You don't need to uninstall Connect to change printers. Running the wizard again is the quickest way to switch hardware or fix a printer that's gone offline.
</Tip>

For supported hardware and connection types, see [Printers](/get-started/connect-printers).

## Logo and receipt font

These two settings live at the bottom of the **Printers** section, under **Logo & receipt font**. They affect printed output, not the on-screen UI.

### Business logo

| Setting                      | What it does                                                                                                              | Default |
| ---------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| **Select Logo Image** | Uploads an image to print at the top of receipts. The same logo is reused on the optional landscape address-label layout. | None |
| **Change Logo** / **Remove** | Swap in a new logo, or clear it.                                                                                          | n/a     |

**Supported formats**: PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, WebP.
**Maximum size**: 5 MB.

Connect keeps its own copy of the logo, so you can move or delete the original afterwards. Only upload artwork you're allowed to print.

### Receipt font

| Setting          | What it does                                                                                                  | Default                |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------- |
| **Receipt Font** | Picks the typeface used for the receipt body text. Grouped into **Monospace**, **Sans-Serif**, and **Serif**. | Default (Printer Font) |

Monospace fonts keep totals and columns aligned, so they're the safest choice. On macOS, Connect will use a monospace font for PDF receipts regardless of this setting, to protect column alignment.

## Relay settings

Controls for the Interflora, eFlorist, and Interflora Spain relay sync. The full overview lives on [Relay](/get-started/connect-relay) — this section is the on/off and timing controls.

<Info>
  Connect **reads** orders and delivery statuses from the relay portals. It doesn't push anything back to Interflora or eFlorist — those still need to be updated in the portal itself when required.
</Info>

| Setting                                               | What it does                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          | Default         |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------- |
| **Enable relay automations** | Master on/off switch for relay polling. When **off**, Connect stops checking the portals altogether — no orders pulled, no status updates, no background activity. Your sign-in stays saved, so flipping it back on resumes polling without needing to sign in again. | On |
| **Check Interflora for delivery updates** | When ticked, Connect polls the Florist Hub on the interval below for new orders and delivery status changes. Applies to Interflora only — eFlorist orders come through when you accept them in the portal, not on a schedule. | On |
| **Interflora polling interval (seconds)** | How often Connect checks the Florist Hub. Range: 30–3600 seconds. Only used when both the master switch and the Interflora check above are on. The panel suggests 120 seconds. | 120 (2 minutes) |
| **Interflora Spain** (under **Additional providers**) | Adds the Interflora Spain portal to the home screen and includes it in relay automations. There are no separate credentials to enter here — you sign in inside the portal window. See [Interflora Spain](/get-started/connect-relay#interflora-spain). | Off |
| **Clear Interflora Sign-In on This Device** | Signs you out of the Florist Hub on this computer and closes any open hub windows. You'll need to sign in again. | n/a |
| **Clear eFlorist Sign-In on This Device** | Signs you out of the eFlorist portal on this computer and closes any open portal windows. | n/a |
| **Clear Interflora Spain sign-in on this device** | Signs you out of the Interflora Spain portal on this computer. | n/a |

<Info>
  The relay session is sticky — once you sign in to a relay portal through its window, Connect keeps you signed in between restarts. Clearing the session is usually only needed when sign-in or hub pages aren't behaving as expected.
</Info>

## Advanced settings

The Advanced section covers performance, the local server port, companion app access, and config import/export. Only change these if you know why.

### Performance

| Setting                          | What it does                                                                                                                                                            | Default |
| -------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| **Enable Hardware Acceleration** | Lets Connect use your computer's graphics chip for smoother rendering. Recommended for most computers; only turn off if you see graphical glitches. Requires a restart. | On |
| **Launch at login** | Starts Connect automatically when you log in to this computer. Keeps relay sync and printing always available. | On |
| **Start hidden on Windows** | Windows only. Launches Connect minimised to the tray instead of opening the main window. | Off |

<Tip>
  Keep **Launch at login** on — Connect is no use to your shop if it's not running, and the relay portals can't be checked while it's closed.
</Tip>

### Server port

| Setting         | What it does                                                                                                                                                     | Default                                      |
| --------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------- |
| **Server port** | The port number for the local server Connect runs on this computer. Must be between 1024 and 65535. Saved when you leave the field, and applied after a restart. | Already set — only change it if support asks |

After changing the port (or hardware acceleration), a **Restart required** banner appears with a **Restart now** button.

### Companion app access

Lets the [Digital Florists companion app](/get-started/companion-app) on phones and tablets print labels through this computer over Wi-Fi.

| Setting                                                                   | What it does                                                                                                                           | Default |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| **Let the Digital Florists companion app reach this computer over Wi-Fi** | Opens this computer up to companion app printing from devices on your network. Leave it off to keep printing limited to this computer. | Off |
| **Test reachability** | Checks whether other devices can reach this computer right now. | n/a |

<Warning>
  Once this is on, devices on your network can print to this computer without pairing. Only enable it on a network you trust, and turn on the token requirement below for an extra layer of control.
</Warning>

The card shows your current status as you go. With the setting off it reads **Local only** — only this computer can print. With it on, **Reachable on your network** appears along with this computer's hostname and address, and the panel tells you if you're not connected to a network. On macOS you may see Connect waiting for **Local Network** permission, with an **Open Local Network settings** button to grant it; if devices still can't reach you after that, your firewall is the usual culprit.

When this computer is reachable, a green **Network** indicator appears in the dashboard header.

#### Companion app access token

An optional token that phones must hold before this computer accepts their print jobs. The token is masked in the panel — reveal or copy it whenever you need it.

| Setting                                      | What it does                                                                                                                                        | Default |
| -------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| **Generate**                                 | Creates a new token.                                                                                                                                | n/a     |
| **Set manually** | Paste a token from another computer so several machines share one, then click **Save token**. | n/a |
| **Clear** | Removes the token and turns off the requirement below. | n/a |
| **Require token for companion app printing** | When ticked, phones without the token stop printing until it's entered on them. Ticking this with no token set generates one for you automatically. | Off |

<Info>
  After generating, changing, or clearing the token, re-copy the POS link from the companion app setup screen. Links copied before the change will stop printing.
</Info>

### Export / Import Config

| Setting           | What it does                                                                                                       | Default |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------- |
| **Export Config** | Saves the full Connect configuration as a file. Useful for backups or moving to a new computer. | n/a |
| **Import Config** | Loads a previously exported config. Connect checks the file before saving it; a restart is recommended afterwards. | n/a |

## Application logs

A live view of what Connect has been doing. The **Recent activity** list shows the latest entries — useful for troubleshooting, and the first thing support will ask about.

| Setting               | What it does                                                                                | Default    |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------- |
| **Refresh**           | Reloads the most recent log entries.                                                        | n/a        |

## About

Information about this Connect installation, plus the update controls. Handy when support asks "what version are you on?" or "where's the log file?".

### Version and updates

Connect updates itself in the background — usually you'll never need to touch this. If you want to force a check or install a pending update straight away, the buttons are here.

| Setting                | What it does                                                                        | Default |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| **Check for updates** | Forces an immediate check for a new version. | n/a |
| **Restart to install** | Appears only when an update has finished downloading. Restarts Connect to apply it. | n/a |

The card shows the current update status — **Up to date**, **Update available**, or **Update ready**. If a check fails, the error is shown inline. For more on how updates are delivered, see [Staying up to date](/get-started/connect#staying-up-to-date).

### Installation details

## Common questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do I need to restart Connect after changing a setting?">
    Most settings apply immediately. **Hardware Acceleration** and **Server port** are the exceptions — a **Restart required** banner appears when either changes, with a **Restart now** button.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I sign out of my shop completely?">
    The **Connect to your shop** section doesn't have a sign-out button by design — Connect is paired to a single shop. To switch shops, click **Replace token** and paste the new shop's access token, or use that shop's connection link. Your printer setup is kept either way.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I copy my Connect setup to another computer?">
    Yes. Use **Export Config** on the source machine, install Connect on the new machine, then use **Import Config**. Re-run the printer setup wizard afterwards because printer hardware is specific to each computer.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What's the difference between 'Clear Interflora Sign-In' and disabling relay?">
    Clearing the sign-in signs you out of the portal on this computer — you'll need to sign back in. Disabling relay (the **Enable relay automations** toggle) stops Connect from checking the portals at all, but keeps your sign-in. Use the toggle for a temporary pause and clearing the session for sign-in trouble.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why is Launch at login on by default?">
    Because relay sync and receipt printing only work while Connect is running. Starting it with your computer is the simplest way to keep everything online without having to remember.
