# Tested kit: printers, drawers, labels, scanners

> The receipt printers, cash drawers, label printers, scanners, and paper rolls we have used in the field, with approximate UK prices and the suppliers we point shops at.

This is the canonical list of peripherals we stand behind. Brand, model family, approximate UK price, and the suppliers we'd buy from ourselves. For the per-category Connect setup detail, follow the links through to the matching Connect page.

We keep this list current so you can copy a sensible basket without spending an afternoon comparing spec sheets. If you'd like a second pair of eyes on a basket before you order, see [Send us your basket](/guides/hardware/send-us-your-basket).

Everything on this page plugs into the till computer that runs [Connect](/get-started/connect), which is a Mac or Windows machine. If you were planning a tablet till, read [Tablets as a till](/guides/hardware#tablets-as-a-till) before buying anything.

## The standard basket

Most shops buy the same four things. Copy this list and you're done.

Not everything applies to every shop:

* **Don't handle cash?** Skip the drawer.
* **Happy with email receipts?** Skip the receipt printer — the POS works without one.
* **The label printer is optional**, but most delivery shops want one. It prints address labels with the recipient, order number, and a QR code your driver can scan.
* **The scanner is optional.** Useful if you sell pre-packaged items or want faster checkout.
* **You don't need a card terminal.** Card payments run through the software — see [Payment methods](/daily-operations/payment-methods).

## The detail, by category

### Receipt printers

One pick: the **Star TSP143IV UE**, around £200-270. Listings describe it as **LAN**, **Ethernet**, or **E+U**. It plugs into your router with a network cable, which is the setup we support best, and it's the printer we test first and set up most often.

  **Check the listing before you pay — or let us check it for you.** Star and Epson sell the same-looking printer in several versions on nearly identical listings. The one you want lists **LAN** or **Ethernet** as a connection; if the model number ends in **BI** or **BI2**, or Bluetooth is the only connection mentioned, it won't work with Digital Florists. If you're not certain, [send us your basket](/guides/hardware/send-us-your-basket) before you order and we'll confirm it's the right version.

### Cash drawers

The brand doesn't really matter as long as the cable matches your receipt printer. Choose one that fits your counter space.

### Barcode scanners

Any USB scanner that emulates a keyboard and handles both 1D barcodes and 2D QR codes works. There's nothing to set up. Plug it in and scan.

Budget options from Amazon (brands like **Inateck**, **Tera**, or **Netum** at around £15-35) are perfectly fine. Avoid Bluetooth-only models.

## UK suppliers

We're UK-focused, so these are the suppliers most of our shops use.

* **[The Barcode Warehouse](https://www.thebarcodewarehouse.co.uk)**. Strong stock on Star and Epson, with a helpful pre-sales team.
* **[ERS Online](https://www.ers-online.co.uk)**. UK specialist POS supplier with good prices and helpful staff. Printer product pages usually list compatible cash drawers on the same listing.
* **[Printerland](https://www.printerland.co.uk)**. UK reseller with strong stock on Brother and Star.
* **Amazon UK**. Wider range, but the same printer is sold in Ethernet, USB, and Bluetooth versions on near-identical listings. Check the listing says **LAN** or **Ethernet** before you pay.

## Receipt rolls

Standard 80mm thermal receipt rolls (80mm × 80mm). Buy in bulk from Amazon, and make sure they're labelled thermal, not bond or ink. For paper widths and the one 58mm model, see [Receipts](/get-started/connect-receipts#paper-width).

## Label rolls

Use **continuous** rolls, not die-cut. Connect uses the printer's cutter to size each label as it prints. ## Running more than one till

If you run two or more registers, the wiring follows three rules.

* **One Connect per till computer.** You can't share one Connect across two tills, even if both PCs are sat on the same counter. Each till is its own machine, its own Connect install, and its own [device record](/settings/devices).
* **You can share a network receipt printer or network label printer between tills.** Both copies of Connect point at the same printer's IP and receipts queue from whichever till takes the sale. USB-attached printers can't be shared, so they work with one PC at a time.
* **Each till needs its own cash drawer.** A receipt printer drives one drawer (see [Cash drawer](/get-started/connect-cash-drawer)), so even if you share the receipt printer over the network, each till still needs its own printer-plus-drawer to take cash.

## Common questions

    Just a computer with a web browser. The POS works without any hardware. If you want to print receipts, a receipt printer is the first thing to buy.

  <Accordion title="Can I use hardware I already have?">
    If you have a Star or Epson receipt printer that connects with a network or USB cable, it'll almost certainly work — see [supported models](/get-started/connect-receipt-printers). Bluetooth-only models won't. Cash drawers are universal as long as the cable matches your receipt printer, and wired USB barcode scanners work out of the box.   <Accordion title="Do I need a receipt printer if I'm not using POS?">
    No. Receipt printers are only for the POS till. If you're using Digital Florists just for order management and delivery, you don't need one, and you can print worksheets and labels from any regular printer.
