Dojo connects the card terminals on your Dojo account to your till, so a card sale at the counter lands on the order without anyone keying the amount into the machine.
This page covers features gated by Admin-tier permissions — typically Settings access. Admins have these by default; your administrator can adjust who has them in Settings > Team.
This page is the full setup tutorial. For the other card processors you can connect, see Payment integrations.

What it does

Connecting Dojo adds three payment methods for staff to pick from on an order or at the till.
  • Dojo Card Terminal. Sends the amount to a card terminal in your shop. This is the one that appears at the till.
  • Dojo Payment Link. Generates a link for one order that you copy and send to the customer by text or email. Generating again while that link is still outstanding hands you the same link rather than a second one.
  • Dojo Virtual Terminal. Opens a Dojo-hosted card form in your dashboard for a card the customer reads out over the phone, so the terminal on the counter stays free for the queue.
Whichever way the payment was taken, refund it from the order screen and the money goes back to the customer’s card through Dojo.

Before you start

  • A Dojo account. If you don’t have one, send the card payments enquiry form and Dojo will come back to you with a quote for your shop.
  • An API key generated in that Dojo account. Live keys start sk_prod_; sandbox keys start sk_sandbox_.
  • Any card terminals you want to use at the counter already on the same Dojo account. Digital Florists reads your terminals from Dojo rather than supplying them.

Connecting Dojo

1

Open the Dojo integration

In Settings > Advanced > Integrations, find Dojo Payments under Available and click Install.
2

Fill in the fields

The key and the environment have to agree: a sandbox key saved against Live is refused.
3

Save, then take a test payment

Save the integration. Digital Florists checks the key with Dojo, adds the three Dojo payment methods for staff, and registers the card terminals already on your Dojo account.Take a small real payment end to end (a pound or two on your own card) and check it lands on the order. Then refund it from the order screen to confirm the whole loop works.
Want to trial it without real money first? Pick Sandbox and paste a sk_sandbox_ key. When you’re happy, switch Environment to Live, paste the sk_prod_ key and save again.

Adding a card terminal

Card terminals live in Settings > Advanced > Payment Terminals. Click Sync from Dojo to pull in the terminals on your Dojo account, or Register Terminal to add one by hand. Registering, pairing a terminal to a till, syncing and removing terminals are all covered in Payment Terminals.

Taking a card payment at the till

1

Choose the Dojo card terminal

On the till, or on the order’s payment screen, pick Dojo Card Terminal and check the amount.
2

Send it to a terminal

If the till is paired with a terminal, or only one terminal is free, the amount goes straight over. Otherwise pick one under Card terminal and click Send to terminal.Terminals Dojo reports as busy or offline stay in the list greyed out. When none of them is free, the list shows No terminal currently available.
3

Follow the terminal

The payment screen follows the machine while the customer presents their card and enters their PIN. Cancel stops the payment while it’s still waiting for a card; once the card has been presented, the sale runs on to a result.
If the terminal asks for the signature on the receipt to be checked, the payment screen waits for Approve signature or Reject signature before it finishes. A declined or cancelled payment says so on the payment screen and offers Retry, and the order stays unpaid. If no result comes back at all, check the card machine’s own screen before you retry, so a payment that did go through isn’t taken twice.

Refunds

Refund from the order screen and the money goes back to the customer’s card through Dojo, and the order’s payment record updates to match. Issue the refund in the Dojo dashboard instead and the order picks it up on its own, so the two agree either way. See Refunds.

Common questions

The message reads:
No active Dojo terminal is registered. Register one under Settings → Payment Terminals and set its status to Active.
Open Settings > Advanced > Payment Terminals, click Sync from Dojo, and check the terminal you want shows Active. If it isn’t listed at all, register it with Register Terminal.
Your terminals are registered, but Dojo reports none of them free at that moment. Usually one is part-way through another sale, or a terminal is switched off or off the network. Unavailable terminals stay in the list greyed out so you can see which one to check, and Sync from Dojo refreshes what your dashboard shows.
Check the card machine’s own screen first. If the payment went through there, record it against the order rather than sending it again, so the customer isn’t charged twice. If the machine shows nothing, click Retry.
Until it has taken its first payment, yes: open it with Edit and change the Location. After that the location is fixed. Deprovision the terminal and register the device against the other location instead.
The order’s payment record updates to match, so the two agree either way. Refunding from the order screen is still the tidier habit, because it records who issued the refund and why.
Yes, two ways. Dojo Virtual Terminal opens a Dojo-hosted card form in your dashboard for a card the customer reads out, and Dojo Payment Link sends them a link to pay themselves. Both record the payment against the order, and neither needs the terminal at the counter.
