This page covers features gated by Admin-tier permissions — typically Settings access. Admins have these by default; your administrator can adjust who has them in Settings > Team.
Turning notifications on and off
Go to Settings > Notifications. You’ll see all notification events grouped by category, each with toggles for email and SMS.- Turn email or text on or off for any event independently. For example, turn email on but SMS off for order confirmations.
- Expand an event to edit its template content and settings.
- Open Advanced on order notifications to control which order types receive it (Gift, Funeral, Corporate, Event).
Per customer
On a customer’s profile, tick Opt out of notifications to stop non-mandatory notifications for every order placed for that customer. Useful for trade or corporate customers who send many orders and don’t want a message for each one. Mandatory notifications (invoices, statements, receipts, and proposals) still send.Per order
When creating or editing an order, tick the Do Not Send SMS & Email Notifications option to silence customer notifications for that specific order. Useful for surprise gifts where the customer shares an email address with the recipient.Funeral orders by default
In Settings > General > Way of Working, switch on Disable funeral order notifications by default. New funeral orders then have the per-order silence option pre-ticked, so you don’t have to remember each time. You can still untick it on individual orders if a particular family wants the updates.Order type rules (advanced)
Each order notification has an Advanced section where you can fine-tune who receives it: by order type (Gift, Funeral, Corporate, Event), by location, and by where the order came from. Click Advanced on a notification and set the checkboxes under each heading.- Exclusions — never send this notification for the chosen order type. For example, exclude funeral orders from delivery notifications so the family doesn’t get an out-for-delivery email.
- Overrides — mark this notification as transactional for the chosen order type, so it sends even when the customer has opted out (or the order has notifications silenced). Use for messages the customer needs about the order they placed, such as confirmations, receipts, and dispatch updates.
- Disable for locations — if you run more than one location, skip this notification at the locations you tick, regardless of order type. This option only appears for multi-location shops.
- Disable for connected platforms — for orders from a connected website or marketplace, we recommend keeping Digital Florists’ confirmation on and turning the website’s own confirmation off at your website provider, so the customer gets one message in your branding with your Digital Florists order number. If you can’t turn it off there, tick that platform here so Digital Florists holds its confirmation back and the customer doesn’t get two.
How overrides interact with opt-outs
Overrides act on the notification, not on the customer. They tell a single notification to ignore any opt-out (profile-level or order-level) for the order types you choose. In practice that means:- A customer who hasn’t opted out receives the notification either way.
- A customer who has opted out receives it only when an override is on for that order type.
Common questions
What happens if I exclude funerals from a notification?
What happens if I exclude funerals from a notification?
Any order with a Funeral order type will skip that notification entirely. The customer won’t receive it by email or text.
An opted-out customer is still receiving a notification. How do I stop it?
An opted-out customer is still receiving a notification. How do I stop it?
The notification has an override on it for that order type, which bypasses per-customer opt-outs by design. See Order type rules for the trade-offs when you want to keep one notification away from a single customer.
